Testing Operations For Speed of Service

We had a great time with a local retailer this week. He has been in business for more than 20 years and was looking to sell, but knew he needed to improve operations in order to have a higher sale price. That’s where Business Bulldog comes in.

We removed a lot of the clutter in the store. As you can imagine, after 20 years in the same location, you’ll collect a few unneeded items. Once we made space for the original intent for the store, we went about watching and listening. Most consultants come raging in and start spouting one kind of process or another. They want you to make changes that have nothing to do with the culture of the business you created. Fast, furious changes don’t stick and don’t make sense for a retailer who wants to improve sales and show results longer than a single marketing campaign.

We watched the movements of the staff through the store. We listened to how they spoke with customers and each other. Once we saw the “fences” that the owner created around parts of the business, we started to move stock and equipment, remove items that didn’t sell, and teach the staff to listen differently to everyone around them we created changes that everyone was happy to use.

We helped the owner secure a buyer for his asking price and the staff has stayed with the business. Does your consulting team work with you or do they make you work their way? Use a think tank that has more than two decades of working with owners. Use Business Bulldog.
